The inaugural Lingfield Foundation Quiz & Curry Night proved to be a resounding success, bringing together parents, staff, alumni and friends of the College for an evening of friendly competition, great food and fundraising.
Held at Tarana Restaurant in Lingfield, the event raised just under £2,000 for The Lingfield Foundation.
The evening was filled with laughter, healthy rivalry and plenty of brainpower as teams competed across a variety of quiz rounds. From testing knowledge around Fruit and Vegtables, to sporting semi finals, indetifying famous faces and the fabulous Wipeout Round, participants threw themselves into the challenge and created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the night.
A special thank you goes to Phil Dowse, who did a superb job as Quiz Master. Keeping everyone entertained and the evening running smoothly is no easy task, and Phil rose to the challenge admirably. While he wasn't responsible for writing the questions, he did occasionally read a few slightly differently from how they appeared on the page. Whether this was down to interpretation or the influence of a well earned Tarana beer remains up for debate, but it certainly added to the fun and generated plenty of laughs along the way!
Congratulations must also go to our winning team, Hoff's Heroes, who claimed the title after an impressive performance. With no fewer than nine team members contributing their knowledge, they certainly maximised their chances of success. Their victory was thoroughly deserved, although our external relations team are already considering introducing a team size limit for next year's event to keep the competition as fair as possible!
Reflecting on the evening, Sally Ross, Fundraising & Development Officer, said:
"As this was our first Quiz & Curry Night, we weren't quite sure what to expect. We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback and delighted by the sense of camaraderie in the room. It was wonderful to see so many members of our community coming together, enjoying themselves and supporting the Foundation at the same time."
Following the success of the evening, plans are already underway to bring the event back in 2027.
The Foundation would like to thank everyone who attended, donated, purchased raffle tickets and helped make the evening such a memorable occasion. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year for another evening of friendly rivalry, good food and fundraising.
