Events & Reunions |
Eighty-five years after first meeting at Lingfield Notre Dame Junior School in the 1940s, lifelong friends Trevor Crowhurst and Tony Stanford returned for a nostalgic visit.
Welcomed by Headmaster Richard Bool, the pair reminisced about school days, sports fixtures, and the memorable presence of the nuns who once ran the school.
Trevor brought along original school reports from 1946, humorously noting the repeated comments on his "poor" handwriting, which were attributed to being forced to write right-handed despite being naturally left-handed. The visit included a dive into old register books from the 1940s and 1960s, sparking memories of classmates, teachers and nun’s long past.
Having both left Notre Dame at the age of 11 to either work or carry on with their studies, they were thrilled to see how the school has evolved into a mixed senior institution, offering such a wide range of opportunities. Trevor was particularly impressed by the sporting facilities and imagined himself diving into every activity.
As Lingfield College celebrates its 85th year, it has been an honour to host this reunion and celebrate the friendship that has endured for over eight decades. We are deeply grateful to have hosted two of our earliest pupils and look forward to the next chapter in their connection with Lingfield.
