Celebrating the Remarkable Career of Alison Folkard

Last night, the Lingfield College community came together to celebrate the outstanding career of Alison Folkard, who has been a valued member of staff since 2006 and has served as Head of Sixth Form for the past 18 years.

Hosted by Headmaster Richard Bool, the evening was a fitting tribute to Alison's dedication and impact on generations of students. More than 50 alumni returned to join current and former colleagues for the celebration, reflecting the lasting impression Alison has made throughout her career. Despite the hot weather, spirits were high as guests shared fond memories and heartfelt stories of the guidance, support and encouragement she had given them during their time at the College.

Guests enjoyed an exceptional array of food and refreshments, expertly provided by the College's catering team, while the evening's speeches beautifully captured Alison's many qualities and achievements. Elaine Bowling delivered a heartfelt tribute, while the Sixth Form team, Phil Douse and Sally Griffiths, brought plenty of laughter as they reflected on Alison's many talents and memorable moments over the years.

One of the highlights of the evening was a specially created video featuring staff and students describing Alison in her famous Prize Giving tradition of "three words". This was followed by touching messages from alumni, both those attending in person and those unable to join the celebration, all expressing their gratitude for the difference she had made in their lives.

Adding to the entertainment, Sophie Brack and Sophie Peplar performed a brilliant and hilarious song in Alison's honour.

To conclude the celebrations, Alison delivered a moving speech, reflecting on her years at Lingfield College and thanking the many colleagues, students and alumni who have been part of her journey. It was clear to see how deeply touched she was by the affection and appreciation shown by everyone present.

While Alison will be greatly missed by the Lingfield community, we wish her every happiness in her retirement, filled with travel, relaxation, and plenty of time with family and friends.
